How do I get thicker hair?

Alright so I'm 17 and I have terribly thin hair and I hate it. I have a slight receding hair line as well. I'd like to know what I can do about it, anything I can do to stop losing hair and get the thickest hair possible. And also I would like to know if there is anything to make my hair permanently straight? any suggestions, links to anything would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Ok I am a former hairstylist...so here I go.

The only thing you can do with a receding hairline is scalp massage. You want to move the skin when you are massaging..not rubbing the hair back and forth...a firm massage of the skin. You want to increase blood flow/circulation - this may help (in some cases). You should also get a proffesional 'scalp cleaners' the folicles/pores of the scalp often get 'cloged' with products, dead skin etc which can block the growth of new hair. Try that too.

You can thicken hair with products only which will basically just coat the hair shaft making it appear thicker. IF you use products like these (or most styling products) you will once a week or two do a deep cleansing (Pantene Purify)to clean the shaft of all residue..then start over with the thicken shampoos. If you don't overtime hair will become dull looking with less managability because it will be over coated.

You can't ever make your hair permenantly straight. You can straighten your hair with a solution which is exactly like a perm solution only with a different process - instead of using rollers when the solution is on the hair it is combed straight - go to a PROFFESIONAL for this. Any new hair that grows out will have curl so you will need to do the process again over time.

why would you wanna make your hair straight when it's already so thin. it would make your hair seem as though it has totally no volume and ultra limp.
